Having had a past life as a gym rat, I had grown very tired of spending hours in the gym lifting weights,waiting to use equipment and being bored out of my mind. Once I became a competitive endurance mountain bike racer I was grateful to leave those days behind. But, it didn't take me long to realize that doing a 100 mile mountain bike race took more than just aerobic conditioning and leg strength. I needed to focus on my mental strength, stamina, flexibility,coordination, agility, power and core strength. I found all of this and more a Flex Gym.

 

Crossfit workouts are extremely challenging, give incredible results and are SHORT. These workouts really compliment my mountain bike training. I have met so many great people at CrossFit FlexGym. They encourage me and push me to do my best and I hope I do the same for them. I cannot say enough about crossfit trainer, Kevin Montoya. I really appreciate his knowledge and approachability, he encourages me and supports me in my program.

Crossfit has given me the drive to pursue a much higher level of fitness and I look forward to the upcoming 2010 mountain bike season.

I have been going to a personal trainer for the last 8 years; first, in Cherry Creek and then out of a small studio in Green Mountain. I have worked out 3 days each week. The trainers were good and I was satisfied; however, in November of 2007 I decided I wanted a change. I checked into a number of places. I am very picky, particularly because I run so much that it is imperative to me to find a trainer who can work with me towards the most effective race strategy as well as strengthening program. I was also aware that I may not find anyone who would make me happy. I DID!

 

Kevin has been a true joy! I feel privileged to say he is my trainer! He cares. He is extremely professional, yet has a great sense of humor. Kevin is extremely well educated in training and continues to learn as much as he can about new techniques and trends. He listens to his clients as individuals and encourages clients to set goals and together work toward reaching them.

 

He is so encouraging and loves what he does, which makes him effective. You know when you find someone who is extraordinarily competent at something, we want others to know! Kevin is that sort of special trainer and person. I always get more than I have paid for during my sessions with him!

 

Kevin's approach to personal training is a blend of youthful energy and a commitment to improvement. As a 57 year old marathon runner, I appreciate Kevin's dedication to providing me withthe most effective workouts for a dedicated runner. I am aware of his passion forthe CrossFit program. Kevin has developed a workout program for me, which incorporates his unique abilities as a CrossFit trainer as well as my desire toimprove strength, agility, stability and power to run progressively better with each race.

In 2003, I was 30 years of age and in the best shape of my life: 5’7” and 140 lbs with endless amounts of hiking, biking, and skiing energy. Fast forward 4.5 years later, after suffering the obligatory slings and arrows coupled with bad choices (TV over exercise) and repeatable food offenses, I was incredibly out of shape and entirely ashamed of the truth: I had become a 34 year old female weighing in at 260 lbs!!!

I was so annoyed with myself.  So embarrassed. So ready to make better choices. What followed was the best choice I made in a long time: I joined Flex Gym and began training with Kevin Montoya.

We started out slowly; he gauged my condition –yes, it was poor– but thanks to Kevin’s comprehensive knowledge, his creativity and his incredible patience, 6 months later I had gained muscle strength back, increased my cardiovascular capacity, and greatly improved my flexibility and overall fitness. Oh yes, I also dropped 45 lbs of fat!!!

Kevin has engineered my comeback through incorporating CrossFit methodology and philosophy into my training regimen. With his workouts I have made incredible gains where every workout is an improvement on the previous one (which definitely motivates you to continue your physical, mental, and emotional evolution). With the help of Kevin and the great folks at Flex Gym I am convinced that I will be in better shape than ever before and will continue to push and improve myself. I look forward to it!

Thank you for your interest. I am so excited that you have found CrossFit in Lakewood! We offer group workouts 5 days each week. You can also arrange for individual coaching.

If you are a beginner, westart with the basics and teach fundamental movements which will   benefit you regardless of your age,kids to seniors. About Us

Flex Gym has been serving the Lakewood community for over 30 years! We are proud to be an affiliate of CrossFit. We have over 6000 sq. ft. of workout space, plenty of kettlebells, dumbells, barbells, bumpers, plyos, pullup bars, rings, and lots more! We also have full locker rooms complete with showers and other amenities for your convenience.

When you sign up for CrossFit coaching you will get a full access membership which enables you touse the gym facility anytime during open hours: Monday - Friday 5 am - 10 pm, Saturday and Sunday 7 am - 5 pm. Full gym access makes it convinient for you in case you miss a workout or simply want to practice some techniques. We also have treadmills in case the weather is uncooperative. You never have to miss a running WOD!

 Kevin is 26 years old and lives in Lakewood with his wife Mandy. His coaching  continues to encourage individuals of all levels to tap into their true potential.
    
Involved in sports all his life: lifting, wrestling, gymnastics. CrossFit Level 1 Certified, CrossFit Nutrrition Certified, Certified by the Internation Sport Science Association, Certified by NFHS, 11 years of strength and conditioning, 8 years as a trainer, 8 years coaching wrestling, Certified by NWCA, Majoring in Human Performance & Sport; Minor in Nutrition, 4 years in Nutritional supplementation.
